Vet Fran program outlined at New England Franchise Association.

In a salute to veterans returning from deployment in Afghanistan and Southwest Asia, the  Vet Fran program – offering special training, financial assistance, and industry support – and other resources available to veterans will be brought to life in a lunch and learn session sponsored by the New England Franchise Association (NEFA).   The event will also underscore how franchisors can enhance their outreach to veterans.

The session is set for Thursday, December 6, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and will be held at Margaritas Mexican Restaurant, 725 Cochituate Road, Framingham, MA 07101.  Steak and Chicken Fajitas, with all the fixins and unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, will be featured.  Cost for the event is $40.  Seating is limited to 40 participants. NEFA Members receive $10.00 off.

Veterans and the entire business community are urged to attend. Membership in the NEFA is NOT required. Reservations are required.

Karen Powell, the CEO & Founder of Décor & You, will outline how the IFA’s VetFran program creates a win-win for veterans and franchise organizations.  Décor & You has over 30 franchisees located in 15 states.

As tens of thousands of service men and women return from deployment in Afghanistan and Southwest Asia, expanded opportunities are needed to ensure veterans and their families can transition into the civilian economy.

With its rapid training opportunities, scalability, and need for operational execution and excellence, franchising provides an ideal career path to enable returning veterans to become leaders of and productive participants in the U.S. economy.

The International Franchise Association’s VetFran program helps returning service members access franchise opportunities through training, financial assistance, and industry support.

VetFran was born out of the desire of the late Don Dwyer Sr. – founder of The Dwyer Group, to say “thank you” to our veterans returning from the first Gulf War.  After the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, IFA re-launched its campaign to assist U.S. veterans at that difficult time. Now, IFA’s VetFran program helps returning service members access franchise opportunities through training, financial assistance, and industry support.  VetFran’s ranks have grown to include more than 400 franchise systems that voluntarily offer financial incentives and mentoring to prospective veteran franchise small business owners. Thousands of veterans have become franchise owners through VetFran and other programs.
